Multimodal carriage
Multimodal carriage means transportation performed by two or more types of transport (sea, railroad, motor, and air) prepared and carried out under the supervision of one forwarding agent that concludes contracts with the owners of the freight and carriers, and is fully responsible for organisation of the above mentioned transportation from the beginning to the end. Delivery is performed on door-to-door basis.
The following transportation schemes are most common:
- Sea transportation between the ports situated in different countries, railroad transportation from the port to the station situated at the consignee's location, motor transportation to the warehouse of the consignee;
- Sea transportation between ports situated in different countries and motor transportation to the consignee's warehouse.
We develop a most cost and time effective commodity transportation scheme individually for each client including the schemes used when shipping out-gauge commodities. After that we coordinate the actions of all the parties participating in this process: the owners of the freight, the carriers, and the carrier complexes.
The door-to-door delivery principle is a complex process involving multiple stages and including a whole range of complex services such as:
- Delivery of an empty sea container for loading to the client's (forwarder's) warehouse;
- Freight insurance;
- Preparation of all the documents necessary for freight export;
- Dispatch of the container from the load point to the sea port by railroad or motor transport;
- Receiving the sea container at the dispatch port and loading the container onto a vessel;
- Receiving the sea container at the unloading port;
- Dispatch of the sea container from the port, where it was unloaded, to the warehouse of the consignee by railroad or motor transport.

Given that in the process of transportation the container and the commodities are often reloaded from one transport to a terminal, moved inside the terminal, loaded from the terminal to another type of transport we can offer you to use surveillance services in order to determine the appearance of the commodities, the container, as well as to check compliance of the quantity of commodities inside the container with the data indicated in the shipment documentation. This will allow you to make timely decisions relative to further transportation of the freight and take measures necessary to ensure safety of the freight.
Freight insurance
We can offer you to insure the freights when performing multimodal transportation. This will allow you to decrease the risks or possible damage to the freight during transportation. Insurance of the freight covers damage or loss of freight resulting from its shipment by sea, land, and air.
Customs clearance
When performing a multimodal transportation of freight we can perform customs clearance at the Baltic Customs in the jurisdiction of the customs posts of Moscow Region, if the freight arrives by motor or railroad transport, as well as the customs posts situated in other regions of the Russian Federation.
